The Dubai Chapter of ICAI has been in existence for over 3 decades now and has been doing
commendable service for the development of the accounting profession, especially in the UAE.
This Chapter is one of the most active Chapters among the 36 overseas chapters of ICAI has
been actively involved in enhancing and updating the professional knowledge of its members
and in this regard has always gained appreciation and accolades from its alma mater.

In this current phase which is unprecedented to our times, full of crisis and uncertainty, the
Dubai Chapter of ICAI has come out with an initiative of keeping the members updated and
enhancing their knowledge base in the area of tax and compliance by publishing “Tax + Economy
= Taxonomy (Embracing Change for Good)”. Taxation is one such area which is not very familiar
to the GCC region and very recently witnessed the introduction of VAT and excise duty. In this
scenario the Initiative of the Chapter to releasing a publication consisting of various articles
on VAT, Excise Tax, CbC reporting, ESR, Companies Commercial Law, IFRS and other related
matters which certainly be of interest and benefit to larger stakeholders.

Upgrading the knowledge base and skill set has always been important in our profession. ICAI
has always endeavored to provide best possible professional development courses and skills
set to update the members to prepare them for the unforeseen future.

I congratulate and extend my gratitude to the entire Managing Committee and the members
who have put such appreciable efforts for the benefit of the accounting fraternity as a whole.

I am sure this publication “Tax + Economy = Taxonomy (Embracing Change for Good)” would
serve as a ready reckoner for our members in the areas of tax and compliance and benefit the
whole accounting fraternity in addition to promoting the vital role that Chartered Accountants
play throughout the global economy.
