CA Sundar Nurani
VICE CHAIRMAN, ICAI (DUBAI) CHAPTER NPIO
Message
Dear Fellow Members
Welcome to the 38th Annual International Conference of The Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (Dubai) Chapter
NPIO which is being held virtually for the first time in the history of the Dubai Chapter. The theme of the conference “Leading
by Passion”, “The Best from the Rest” is especially relevant considering the circumstances that we are in today.
As Steve Jobs once said, “You must be burning with an idea, or a problem, or a wrong that you want to right. If you are not
passionate enough from the start, you’ll never stick it out.” The ongoing pandemic has impacted each one of us in one way
or another. None of us would have believed during December 2019 that we would be compelled to adapt and “Work-from-
Home” for a long time but all us were forced to think “outside the box” and very soon we adapted to the new way of working.
We could also hear so many success stories of companies such as “Zoom” through whose platform this year’s conference
is being held. Medical professionals and support staff risked their lives to play a prominent role to support the healthcare
system across the world which was facing a huge challenge.
We as members of the Dubai Chapter also witnessed many challenges that were faced by our fellow Indians and all of us
joined hands and contributed within our means to support the community in close coordination with the Indian Consulate in
Dubai. The Chapter also created a WhatsApp Group to cater to its members who lost their jobs due to the pandemic and we
are happy to note that quite a few members were able to get the necessary leads and also secured employment in due course.
Some of the important life lessons that I have learnt during this year is one must always maintain a positive outlook, count on
one’s blessings and live life each day to the fullest.
Continued learning along with acquiring new and diversified skills “re-skilling” are equally important to remain relevant in the
current digital world. Chartered Accountants who are in Dubai but not members of the Dubai Chapter are reminded about
maintaining their CA degree by complying with the CPE requirements and consider joining the Chapter to continue their
professional journey.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank the Leaders of the United Arab Emirates and the Government of Dubai for
providing Chapter members with gainful professional/business/employment and networking opportunities.
Sincere thanks to our Government Leadership in India and also UAE Embassy, Ambassador, Indian Consulate and Consul
General for all the support and guidance provided to the Chapter and the members.
I would like to place on record my sincere gratitude to our President and Vice President of ICAI New Delhi for their unstinted
support, all the past chairmen of the Dubai Chapter, our current Chairman CA Anish Mehta, members of the Managing
Committee for their continued hard work and dedicated efforts to deliver useful and memorable experiences for our members
during this “Year of Members”.
My heartfelt thanks to all our members, and their families for all their support and participation.
Let us also together acknowledge and thank our sponsors who stood with us during these challenging times.
I look forward to all your continued support and valuable suggestions during my upcoming tenure as the Chairman of the
Chapter to be able to continue to deliver the best to the members.
Stay Safe, Stay Blessed!!
Happy New Year 2021!!
